The "Haus zur Roten Schär" (The corner house across from the Wentzingerhaus)
was built in 1490. The "Redoutenhaus" (Exchange House) is found after the Historischen
Kaufhaus. It was already used in the Middle Ages as the city salt house and
took over this function again in 1753. Then in 1776, a large stairway was built to connect the house to the Kaiser's
Room in the Kaufhaus and was used as for balls. A "Stube" (parlor) was added for the Breisgau-Geschichtsverein Shau-ins-Land
(Breisgau History Club) in 1878. The addition was built in the upper story and
based on a sketch from F. Geiges. |
